The Maid of the Mist is a boat tour that takes tourists to the lower reaches of the Niagara Falls. All the boats are named Maid of the Mist, but individual boats are identified by specific Roman numerals. The tour operates from late April/early May (depending on the weather) to late October, departing from the docks (near the Observation Tower) every 15 minutes and each trip lasts 30 minutes. The boats initially take visitors to the base of the American Falls and then to the basin of the Horseshoe Falls.
