Nassau County is a county on Long Island, sandwiched between New York City's borough of Queens in the west and Suffolk County in the east. The county is home to nearly 1.4 million people, mainly suburban, and one of the most affluent counties in the United States. Nassau County is split into the North and South Shores with the North Shore featuring hilly roads and rocky beaches, while the South Shore is generally flat and features sandy beaches. The seat of the county government is Mineola, a village of 19,000 people.
