Long Island, New York State - About Long Island

Long Island is an elongated-shaped island in New York State and the largest island in the United States, spanning 118 miles (190 km) from east to west and 23 miles (37 km) at its widest from north to south. Geographically Long Island includes New York City's boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens in the west, Suffolk County in the east, and Nassau County in between.
