Buffalo is a city of around 259,000 people and the largest city in Upstate New York. Located on the eastern shores of Lake Erie (at the beginning of the Niagara River), it is the principal city in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The city is a blue collar town at heart but is the economic hub of the region. Buffalo is famous for its many buildings constructed from the 19th to early 20th century that are renown for their architecture, and around 80 sites are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
