Taking the plane, train, or bus to Albany and then renting a car is a convenient way to travel if you plan to take full advantage of the city and beyond the city limits. Several car rental companies including Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National are located at Albany International Airport. From the airport, it is about 12 miles (19 km) or 20 minutes drive to Downtown Albany. There are also several car rental companies at the Colonie Center shopping mall, located at the junction of Central Avenue and Wolfe Road.
