Albany's New York State Capitol is the home of the New York State Legislature, located in State Street in Capitol Park. Constructed between 1867 and 1899, it was built at a cost of $25 million, the most expensive government building during its time. It's overall architecture is Romanesque Classical in design, though the two floors above the ground floor are in the Renaissance Classical style. Free guided tours of the New York State Capitol are available from Monday to Friday, except holidays.
