The Erastus Corning Tower (commonly referred as Corning Tower) is part of the Empire State Plaza, a massive state government office complex. At 589 feet (180 meters), it's the tallest skyscraper in New York State outside of New York City. Completed in 1966, the tower is named after Erastus Corning 2nd, Albany's longest serving mayor for over 40 years from 1941 to 1983. The Corning Tower Observation Deck is situated on the 42nd floor of the tower, and offers visitors a panoramic view of the city of Albany.
