Queens, New York City - Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge

The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is a nature park and bird sanctuary in New York City. The wildlife refuge covers 9,155 acres (3,705 ha), partly situated in the borough of Queens and partly in Brooklyn. The refuge features open waters, marshlands, brackish ponds, dunes, woodland, and wooded areas. Fauna seen at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge include various species of migratory birds, terrapins, horseshoe crabs, crabs, squirrels, and raccoon. There is a walking trail starting from the Visitor Center and loops through the refuge.
