Rockaway Beach is a beach and neighborhood stretching along the narrow Rockaway Peninsula in the borough of Queens. The beach stretches for 14 miles (23 km) along the peninsula and the area between 67-69th and 87-92th Streets is the only legal surfing area in New York City. The beach is clean and well-maintained with many considering it to be the best in New York City. Furthermore, Rockaway Beach is not as crowded and touristy in summer as Brooklyn's Coney Island.
