The Upper West Side is a residential neighborhood in New York City situated between Central Park and the Hudson River. It is an affluent area of Manhattan though not as affluent as the Upper East Side. Many of the buildings here were built before World War I, but gentrification has seen a number of modern buildings. Hotels in the Upper West Side offer better value than in Lower or Midtown Manhattan, and a convenient location for exploring Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History.
