The Bronx, New York City - City Island

City Island is situated in Long Island Sound off the northeastern coast of the Bronx mainland. It's a small island measuring just 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long and 0.5 miles (1 km) wide, and has a population of around 4,500. Unlike the rest of urban Bronx, City Island has the character and atmosphere of a typical New England fishing village. The island is famous for its numerous seafood restaurants (lobster being a specialty here) and has become a popular destination with many New Yorkers searching for a short getaway.
