New York City's Orchard Beach (also referred as the Bronx Riviera) is a man-made beach in the Bronx. This sandy beach is part of Pelham Bay Park and situated on the western end of Long Island Sound. Orchard Beach is a curved-shaped beach stretching 1.1 miles (1.8 km) and features a promenade, central pavilion offering foods and drinks, picnic areas, playgrounds, and courts for playing basketball, handball, and volleyball. The beach is a popular with New Yorkers in summer and therefore you can expect a crowd.
