The Brooklyn Museum in New York City is an art museum located along the Eastern Parkway in the city's borough of Brooklyn. Founded in 1895, the Brooklyn Museum is the second largest art museum in New York City with 1.5 million artworks in its collection. Emphasis is on American art beginning from the colonial period to the modern day. The Brooklyn Museum is also known for its expansive art collection from Egypt (spanning 3,000 years), Europe, Africa, Pacific Islands, Japan, and the Islamic World.
