Newark Liberty International Airport is located in Newark, New Jersey, about 19 miles (31 km) by road from New York City. The airport is the furthest from Long Island compared to JFK, LaGuardia, and MacArthur Airports. Getting to the nearest station for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) means traveling to Penn Station in Manhattan and possibly change to another LIRR train at Jamaica Station in Queens. However, there are private shuttles and limousines traveling between Newark Airport and various destinations on Long Island.
