New York City - MTA Buses in New York City

New York City is extensively covered by the New York City Subway but there are areas not covered by the subway network. These areas are covered by public transport buses operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), which provides greater coverage of New York City than the subway. In the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, where the subway routes generally run in a north-south direction, buses are the best way for traveling in an east-west direction (cross-town) unless you prefer a taxi.
