New York City - Getting Around on Foot

New York City is a compact city especially Manhattan, where many of the city's attractions are located. Therefore one of the best ways to get around the city is on foot. Even if you use the subway train or bus, it is still a walk (often a short distance) to your destination. Have a good street map when exploring New York City - you can get free maps from the tourist information centers at several locations in the city. Jaywalking is common among New Yorkers but can be dangerous, and therefore be cautious when crossing the streets.
