Buffalo Central Terminal is a former railway station located about 3 miles (2 km) from Downtown Buffalo. The terminal opened in 1929 but train services went into decline after World War II, and eventually closed and abandoned in 1980. After years of neglect, the 17-floor Art Deco terminal came under the care of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) in 1997. The CTRC is devoted to the restoration of the terminal with new areas progressively repaired, cleaned, and reopened to visitors each year.
